Trade and Commerce

The bilateral trade between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is growing since 2001. The trade is overwhelmingly in favour of the UAE as mineral fuels and mineral oil products constitute its main export to Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh’s export to the UAE, although not significant in value vis-à-vis the huge potentials Dubai being re-export hub for other GCC and Middle East & North African (MENA) countries offers, is steadily growing annually.

Bangladesh’s export to the UAE in the FY 2011-12 was $170.16 million which grew at 36% over the previous year, while the volume of bilateral trade amounting to $ 848.36. Trade statistics of last 6 years are given below (Source: Export Promotion Bureau & Bangladesh Bank)
