Remittances

Remittances are playing an increasingly large role in the economies of many countries, contributing to economic growth and to the livelihoods of less prosperous people.  Bangladesh is also receiving remittances from the expatriates which have been playing a pivotal role to make the economy strengthen.  A significant number of Bangladeshis have been working in the UAE in the last few years. They are contributing immensely to the economies of both countries. Remittances from non-resident Bangladeshis account for a major portion of Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves. The inflow of remittances from the UAE to Bangladesh for last few years is shown in the following Figure :
